Yes — we actively buy used firearms and offer fair, on-the-spot evaluations. Bring your firearm in unloaded and we’ll take a look. Valid ID required.

CLASSES & CERTIFICATIONS
Do you provide concealed carry (CCW) certification?
Yes, Vintage Arms, Inc. provides Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) certification as part of their training classes. They offer the 18-Hour New York State Concealed Carry License training, which is a requirement for individuals seeking to apply for a concealed carry permit in New York. Do I need my own firearm to take a class?
No, you do not need to own your own firearm to take a class at Vintage Arms, Inc. We typically provide firearms for students during the training.
What is the 18-hour class mentioned on the website?
The 18-hour class is a training course required by New York State for all residents applying for a Concealed Carry license. The class includes 16 hours of lecture and 2 hours of live-fire range training, for a total of 18 hours covering essential firearm safety and handling topics.

We offer everything from basic cleanings and sight installs to full Cerakote jobs, custom engraving, barrel threading, stippling, and vintage restorations.

How long do gunsmith jobs typically take?
Turnaround time varies by service. Cleanings and simple repairs may take a few days, while custom builds and coatings may take 1–3 weeks. We'll give you a timeline up front.
Can I ship my firearm to you for service?
Yes, we accept shipped firearms through proper FFL channels. Contact us first for instructions and to confirm eligibility.
Can I request custom work like Cerakote or engraving?
Yes — we offer full customization packages including Cerakote, engraving, stippling, trigger work, and optic installs.

PERMIT ASSISTANT SERVICES
What services are offerd for pistol permit applications?
Vintage Arms, Inc. provides comprehensive assistance for obtaining pistol permits in New York City and Westchester County. Our services include professional photographs, fingerprinting, notary services, and guidance throughout the application process.

Do I need to be a New York State resident to apply for a pistol permit?
While you don't need to reside in New York State to apply for a pistol permit, you must apply in the county where you live or have a business need. Vintage Arms, Inc assists with applications for both residents and non-residents, including out-of-state applicants with business interests in New York.

PURCHASING LAWS & FFL INFO
How old do I need to be to buy ammunition?
You must be 18 or older to purchase rifle or shotgun ammunition and 21 or older to purchase handgun ammunition. All ammo shipments are sent via ground with adult signature required. Always double-check that you're purchasing the correct caliber for your firearm and that you're in compliance with your local and state laws.
Can you ship ammo or firearms to my state?
We comply with all federal, state, and local laws. If your area restricts certain types of ammunition, magazines, or firearms, we will not ship those items to your address. It's your responsibility to verify your local laws before placing an order. Vintage Arms, Inc. reserves the right to refuse any sale that appears non-compliant or suspicious.
What are the age requirements to buy a firearm?
Per federal law:
• You must be 18 or older to purchase a long gun (rifle or shotgun)
• You must be 21 or older to purchase a handgun
However, state and local laws may vary, so always check your area’s regulations before buying.
Do you accept firearm and ammo transfers?
Yes, we accept FFL firearm and ammo transfers. Our current fees are:
• $100 per firearm (as of 01/01/2025)
• Ammo transfers: $30 per 2,000 rounds
Firearms must be shipped by an FFL dealer with a copy of their license included. All transfers are logged and held for pickup the next business day after delivery to ensure compliance with processing laws. Please do not arrive for same-day pickup unless cleared by staff.
We are not responsible for informing you when your transfer has arrived — please use your own tracking info.
What do I need to own a firearm in New York State or NYC?
NY State:
• Handgun: Requires a valid NYS pistol license (click here to see how we can assist)
• Rifle/Shotgun: Requires a valid government-issued ID and NICS background check
NYC:
• Handgun: Requires a valid NYC pistol license (click here to see how we can assist)
• Rifle/Shotgun: Requires a NYC-specific license (contact us to see how we can assist)
AR-15 style rifles are not compliant in NYC.
What makes a firearm NY compliant?
To comply with New York State and NYC laws, firearms must meet these requirements:
NY State:
• Magazine capacity no more than 10 rounds (10+1 max)
• Semi-auto rifles must have no pistol grip or a fixed magazine
NYC:
• Handguns: Max 10-round magazines (10+1)
• Rifles/Shotguns: Max 5-round magazine
AR-15s and similar styles are not legal within NYC
Our gunsmith can modify most rifles on-site to meet compliance standards.
What if an item I ordered isn't NY compliant?
If a product is ordered that is not legal in New York, you will be charged a restocking fee and/or return shipping fee to get the item back to the distributor. Always verify compliance before completing your order. Contact us if you have any questions.
RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS
Can I cancel my firearm purchase after placing the order?
Yes, but cancellation fees apply.
• In-store purchases: $100 for the first firearm, plus $50 for each additional firearm.
• Online purchases: 25% cancellation fee based on the total order.
If the item has already shipped, additional shipping and restocking fees may apply. Reimbursements will be processed within 30 days of request.

Can I return a firearm after purchase?
No. All firearm sales are final once your background check is completed and the firearm has left the store. If you are not satisfied with the firearm, Vintage Arms, Inc may offer to buy it back, but is under no obligation to do so, and reserves the right to refuse.

Can I return ammunition?
No. All ammunition sales are final, whether opened or unopened. Please ensure you are purchasing the correct caliber and that you comply with all local and state laws before finalizing your order.

Which items are non-returnable?
Returns are not accepted on the following:
• Custom or special order items
• Used or installed products
• Firearms and ammunition (once transferred)
• Optics, night vision, electronic sights, and illumination devices
What’s your return policy on other products?
Products (excluding restricted items above) may be returned within 30 days with a valid sales receipt for a full refund.
Items returned between 31–45 days will receive store credit.
No returns after 45 days.
Store credits expire 1 year from the issue date.
All items must include original packaging and accessories.

Who covers shipping for returns?
The customer is responsible for all shipping charges associated with returns and any shipments that are refused upon delivery. If a product must be sent back to the distributor, those costs will be deducted from your reimbursement or store credit.
