Residents:
If you are a resident of New York City (or you already posses a concealed carry permit from any counties in NYS), you need to obtain a pistol permit in order to obtain a handgun. You must be at least 21 years old. If you wish to apply for the premise license only, it is not “required” to complete any basic training, however it is “highly recommended” to complete the Basic Pistol Safety Course. If you wish to apply for the concealed carry license, you need to complete the NYS Concealed Carry Firearm Safety Training Course and 2 Hour Live Fire Assessment.

If you wish to own a rifle or shotgun, you need to obtain a New York City Rifle/Shotgun permit. You must be at least 21 years old to obtain a Rifle/Shotgun Permit, even though New York State age is at least 18 years old.
You can apply for both pistol, rifle and shotgun licenses at the same time, which most tend to do.

Non-Residents:
It is not a legal requirement for you to reside in the state in which you are applying for a pistol permit. Most states offer a non-resident pistol permit. New York State does not share reciprocity with any other state, therefore, if you wish to travel outside New York State we recommend obtaining additional state licenses. We offer assistance with completing many state pistol permit applications. Please contact us for additional details.
However, as of July 2024, if you are a NY resident and have a valid permit from any county in New York state, you are eligible to apply for a Special Carry permit in New York City. For non-NY residents who have a CCW in their home state, they must apply to NYC for an out-of-state permit. This permit would allow them to carry in all of New York state.
Have a safety concern related to owning a firearm? There is now a "Smart Gun" which can only shoot if you are wearing a special ring. Smart firearms safety technology is intended to prevent the
accidental use and misuse of the firearm by children, as well as reducing accidental discharges or the use of a firearm against its owner if stolen or taken away.

Police and the NYPD application fees are not included in our fee.
Any administrative appeal is at the client's expense. Individuals who have had felony, class A misdemeanor, or domestic violence convictions are barred from being granted firearm licenses. If such persons choose to engage our service anyway, the above-stated refund policy is void.
Furthermore, untruthful & inaccurate client supplied information, as well as failure to abide by police rules and regulations, voids our refund policy.

Firearm licenses are granted only by and at the discretion of the pertinent police department. Typically, it takes six months or more for the police to grant or deny a firearm permit.
